Poster Guidelines

If your abstract has been approved for a Poster Session you will be required to submit your poster in order to be included in the Conference. Your uploaded poster file should be in a format that is viewable from the CDROM. It can be an exact copy of what you will attach to the display board described below – or a modified format to be readable from the CDROM. The poster file can be a .ppt, .doc, or .pdf and must be submitted no later than August 15, 2004.

All poster sessions must use the uniform, free-standing board provided. Dimensions of the provided board are 36 x 48 inches divided into three panels. The middle portion of the board is 24 inches wide with two wings each 12 inches wide.

The board will be placed on a table area of about 3 feet by 3 feet so that accompanying materials or visual aids may be placed on the table. The poster board and table space will be provided. Tape and glue will also be provided to attach the posters to the poster board.

  • Use simple, clear language.
  • Keep fonts and page layout simple and uncluttered.
  • Because of space constraints, text on the poster should be in headline or outline format.
  • Place more detailed information on accompanying documentation.
  • Headline lettering should be readable from a distance of 3-4 feet.
  • Plan to place the most important information at eye level or higher.
  • Eye-catching visual aids, charts, drawings, photographs, and other illustrations are encouraged.
  • Bring all material with you (except the board). Do not plan to buy things on site.
  • Plan to assemble the display about an hour before the poster sessions open.
  • Be prepared to give an informal presentation as attendees cluster around your display.
  • The purpose of the session is to provide more than an anonymous idea exchange but less than an entire workshop
