Besides all key aspects of the ICEE 2005 and engineering education related reasons of attending this event, the special social and cultural program will be offered to all interested participants and accompanying persons.

The sightseeing of Kraków and visit to the magnificent Wieliczka salt mine nearby are foreseen as the tourist breaks and are included in the ICEE 2005 programme for all participants. The Kraków and Wieliczka visit day is going to end with the very special countryside dinner at Zalesie Grange.

The ICEE 2005 Companion Programme for Accompanying Persons includes the folowing events and tours:

Monday, July 25 - Silesian Porcelain Factory

The ICEE 2005 will have a unique opportunity to visit the Silesian Porcelain Factory (formerly known as Giesche), track the process of porcelain masterpieces manufacturing and admire the results of the factory workers skills.

Tuesday, July 26 - Pszczyna Castle
We invite the ICEE 2005 participants to visit the castle in Pszczyna - one of very few Polish residences where most of the furniture and furnishings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries have survived. The documented history of the fortified Pszczyna castle goes back to the first half of the 15th century. You will have an unforgettable possibility to see a highly unique collection of rare miniatures, magnificent interiors, palatial rooms, salons, galleries, library...

After the visit to Pszczyna Castle the group will have an opportunityto visit the bison reserve nearby.

Wednesday, July 27 - Auschwitz

All over the world, Auschwitz has become a symbol of terror, genocide and the Holocaust. It was established by the Nazis in 1940, in the suburbs of the city of Oswiecim which, like other parts of Poland, was occupied by the Germans during the Second World War. The name of the city of Oświęcim was changed to Auschwitz , which became the name of the camp as well.

For those interested in country oriented trips we would be happy to help in organising a lovely visit to Polish Beskidy Mountains, including famous Wisła and Szczyrk resorts. Close to the Conference location there are Polish highest mountains – Tatra Mountains, with the town Zakopane – the capital city of winter sports in Poland. The best time for such visit would be the weekend following the ICEE 2005 and possibly next week - in case you plan longer visit to Poland!
