CALL FOR PAPERS

WORKSHOP: ABET Accreditation

Accreditation, in general, is an important process to ensure the quality of degree programs in education institutions. It helps parents and prospective students to know that a program has met professional standards. It also helps faculty, deans and administrators to be aware of a program’s strengths and weaknesses, and of ways to improve the program. ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology), in particular, evaluates and assesses the quality of education programs in the fields of applied science, computing, engineering, and technology.

The purpose of this session is to provide a forum for those who have gone through an ABET accreditation process before to share their experience with each other for future improvement, and in the meantime to provide opportunities for those interested in getting their degree programs accredited by ABET to be ready for their endeavors later.

This workshop will consist of two components: Paper presentations and seminar. We welcome papers that are based on experience from an actual ABET 2000 process. Also, we will provide scenarios for participants to practice to gain some ideas about ABET accreditation.
