International Conference on Engineering Education and Research
iCEER-2004

Bouzov Castle, Czech Republic, June 27-30, 2004

CALL FOR PAPERS

LEARNING TO DESIGN AND CONDUCT EXPERIMENTS

Papers are solicited on concepts, strategies and examples concerning how to teach students to design and conduct experiments.  The focus is on the teaching and learning the methodology of designing a physical experiment.  This includes estimating parameters to be measured, selecting sensors, transducers and other measurement instrumentation, developing experimental procedures, following procedures, and analyzing and reporting results.  Papers that describe tested models of teaching and learning how to design experiments and decision making in the engineering laboratory are especially welcome.  Other topics of interest include but are not limited to statistical design of experiments, robust design, design-state uncertainty analysis, assessment of the student’s ability to design experiments, and the design and conduct of virtual experiments through simulations and/or control of remote instrumentation.  Case studies of projects where students design experiments to measure temperature, pressure, flow, strain, motion, force, signal characteristics, or any other engineering quantity are also welcome.

This conference emphasizes development of international partnerships in education and research. Through special sessions and international workshops, it provides ample opportunity for discussing future cooperative projects.
