WISC Grants for Women's International Science Collaboration Program

Deadline: January 15, 2003; July 15, 2003

Synopsis: WISC, a joint activity between AAAS and NSF, awards small travel grants on a competitive basis to U.S. scientists to plan and design new collaborations with colleagues in Central/Eastern and Western Europe, the Newly Independent States of the former Soviet Union, the Near East, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, the Pacific region, and Asia. These activities are expected to lead to full research proposals that are submitted to the National Science Foundation or other funders.

Grants of up to $5,000 (depending on region) will provide travel and living support for a U.S. scientist to visit a partner country. When appropriate, an additional grant of up to $5,000 may be made to an American co-PI for the same purpose.
