CALL FOR PAPERS

WORKSHOP: INTERNATIONAL ENGINEERING EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

Engineering students from all countries need to understand engineering in the global context. One of the best ways of achieving this understanding is through some type of international student exchange experience as an undergraduate. There are great opportunities to develop these exchanges among North American, South American, Asian, Australian, and European universities and colleges.

This session will focus on success stories in overcoming one or more of the following potential obstacles to make an exchange work:

·        Language barriers

·        Schedule differences

·        Housing requirements

·        Academic credit evaluation

·        Funding and student affordability

·        Sustainability

·        Visa requirements

·        Faculty and institutional support

The list is not all-inclusive; other issues will definitely be considered. Preference will be given to papers that incorporate a number of the issues.

The session will also provide opportunities for those interested in developing exchanges to share information with others with similar interests.
