DATE:                             April 23, 2003
TO:                                  New Members of iNEER Community
FROM:                            iNEER Chair and Secretary-General

Dear Colleague:

We are both privileged and pleased to write to you for the first time and to invite you to become acquainted with iNEER and its unique programs, and participate in its activities. iNEER, the International Network for Engineering Education and Research, is a recently formed worldwide networking, professional, volunteer organization focused on promoting advancement in engineering education and research through international cooperation.

From time to time, we will be sending you e-mails relating to items of possible interest dealing with international cooperation and invite you to participate. In the near future,
we will be sending you information concerning ICEE-2003 to be held in Valencia, Spain, from July 21-25, 2003. Now in its 10th edition, the annual ICEE conference is the largest international conference of its kind and is typically attended by educators, ranging from young faculty to heads of institutions, from more than 40 countries. iNEER is the principal sponsor of the ICEE Conferences, and this year Prof. Justo Nieto, Rector of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain and his associates at UPV will be the hosts of ICEE-2003. We welcome you to participate and hope some of you will join us there.

We will also send you information on best practices, and new opportunities, for research cooperation across international boundaries. Annually, we publish a unique, peer-reviewed, archival iNEER Special Volume that chronicles worldwide innovations in engineering education and research, and we will send you information concerning the availability of the 2002 volume, an update on publication of the 2003 volume, and information on submitting manuscripts to the 2004 volume.
